I'm sure there's something that someone hasn't thought of yet. Hot coffee, nope, been done. Slippery floor, nope, been done. "Accidental" accident (insurance fraud), nope, been done. These things have been tried, and ridiculously, succeeded. What can I do to make millions of dollars these days? I know, medical malpractice. It's been done before you say. I know I say. But, there is nothing in place to stop it from happening again. Why? We have signs warning us of slippery floors, signs warning us that the hot coffee is, get this, HOT. All of these signs it seems these days come in two flavors, English and Spanish. Sometimes we get German and French. So, after years of driving malpractice insurance through the roof because of malpractice, we still have no control over frivolous lawsuits in the medical and drug fields. Anyone remember Vioxx? I took it. I loved it. I can't understand why I can't have pain relief because someone with a heart condition that I don't have died from Vioxx. So, instead, I live with pain that isn't necessary. Thanks everyone in this wonderful litigious society. So, if you're looking to get rich the easy way, just have as many surgeries as you possibly can in the shortest amount of time. Better yet, schedule eight surgeries at the same time, chances are one of the surgeons will forget something somewhere and you'll wake up setting off metal detectors. Even better, maybe they'll leave something soft inside you (less irritating) and you can get an unprecedented sum of moolah. If anyone succeeds in doing this, please let me know how to get the appointments for the doctors\surgeons, because I can't even seem to get an appointment. Once, recently, I had a scheduled appointment for almost four months out, and halfway there the office called and canceled it. It seems the doctor they had slated to see me didn't even work there yet and wouldn't be there for yet another month. My entire family goes to the doctor and doesn't see a doctor. We see Physician's Assistants. I'm not saying that they aren't knowledgeable or able, I'm just saying that we pay the same amount as if we were seeing a doctor. And, we can't get appointments. With that said, how will Obamacare help with these situations? I can't imagine it will. I fully expect more delays in care, less options and longer lines. Ask anyone from a country where socialized utopian medicine already exists. At this point, I'd probably be happy paying my medical bills from my wallet rather than through an insurance. Insurance companies seem to mess things up. Wait, it's the litigious society that messes things up. Remember how doctors came to the house in old movies? Maybe if the doctors started doing that again, they could turn the tables on the litigious society by "accidentally" falling on the stairs and suing the patient. That would be righteous. Stay tuned for an important announcement from my sponsor Commiecare (the Health Care that does you dead).

You get what you pay for... usually
Thanks for the phone call buddy, I'm glad I'm paying for your health care. I'd have helped before if you'd have asked (& we'd have saved money that way). =)
I was marinating T-bones tonight (from a holstein steer, not angus, and it was given to me, not bought, so get over the steak thing you crazy liberals), and I put the steaks into a bag from Wal-Mart. A "Great Value" bag. Great Value bags are not a great value. One of the steaks went on the floor, three quarters of the marinade went on me. I was pissed. You get what you pay for (and that's why The "mart" has stopped replacing "name brand" products with inferior "great value" ones). Usually, you get what you pay for.
I've been paying into Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Gov't programs of no specificity for many years now. Medicare and Medicaid are going to suffer cuts now. Don't listen to whatever the silly democrats are saying. I'm not upset about that in itself. I'm upset because the money I've been paying into these programs will likely never benefit me. I'm upset because I've not been given a choice to enroll into these programs. It seems to me that because I'm able bodied and have a strong work ethic, I'm screwed. I've not taken a dime in unemployment in my life, nor do I suppose I'll ever have to. I'd start my own business first. There are so many problems with gov't healthcare involvement. Where do we start?
How about death panels?
Lines at the doctor?
Limited tests for sickness?
Limited treatment for sicknesses you may have gotten a limited test for?
It is my understanding that ligaments in your knee are not important to the Social medicine world so long as you can still walk. That's nice. I don't think if I still had a torn ACL I'd be able to do my job. Those of you who know me will understand. If they hadn't have fixed it years ago I'd be fat lazy and on disability. Well, no, I'd have overcomed adversity and figured something out. But I wouldn't be where I am now. If ligaments are negotiable, is this still the greatest country on earth? I believe in one stroke of the pen we moved closer to tyranny than anyone even realizes.
My grandfather died. Many people have had that happen. If yours was as close to you as mine was to me, I'm sorry. Mine would be proud that I'm using him to illustrate this example. He died of an aortic aneurysm. He was in the hospital for less than a full day before he died. His hospital bill was over 40 grand. Why was it so high you may ask? The answer is that he had the best in the area working to save him. The answer is that the best charged under 20 grand. Where you may ask is the rest of that cost? BLOOD Blood was the single largest cost of his hospital stay. Seeing that blood was the largest cost of the end of his life (I'm crying now. Love you Grandpa) why is that the important part of this message? What can the government do to reduce that cost? How will they deal with these situations? My grandfather may have just been turned away due to costs. Or, more likely, the government may just try to "mandate" blood "donations". Think about that one for a bit.
Since the great depression one thing has changed that has been perhaps that biggest downfall of our country. Our adhesion to religion. Why have we gone away? The government has done more and more to replace our Deity. The government will do it's best to entirely replace Him and then we'll be communist. That was a Glenn Beck-like statement. Sorry. Liberals have been trying for nearly a century now, and they will continue to try. In 1900, the church and the family was the social security, the medicare, and the medicaid. By 1940 and FDR's legacy, things had changed. By 1970 and LBJ and the "meds", things had changed more. What more responsibility does the church have to its neighbors? So, consequently money that was being used at home was going overseas to do it's good.
In every war we've had, an economic upturn would follow. That was possibly true while we were on the gold standard. Now, we borrow money from our enemies to fight a war against them.
My current state of mind is proof that liberalism and liberal conduct can drive a person insane. I apologize for the state of this blog. But I don't apologize for the state of our Union. That's their (socialist liberals) fault.
The point of most of this post has been that you get what you pay for unless you pay the government for what you pay for, then you don't. Nice easy, understandable statement.
For anyone following this blog, you've seen me write "squeezing the pig" a number of times. You may have been waiting with bated breath for the squeezing the pig essay. Now, a concise estimate of squeezing the pig.
SIN TAX
Anyone scared yet? I bet in the next few years you'll see that sins don't just consist of tobacco firearms and alcohol. You'll see that other things will be sin taxed. Fatty Foods. Sugary Foods. Electricity. Nuclear Energy. Cell Phones. Cars. Walking. Working. Preparing food in your own kitchen. Not preparing food in your own kitchen. Waking up. Breathing.
All of these things can be hazardous to your health. Since the government is going to be the one to lose the money, because they will insure us all, they can propose and will pass taxes on these activities. AND MORE. It's bad enough that the cigarette tax and alcohol tax is astronomical. It's bad enough that you can barely even buy a firearm. It's worse if your Coke and Cheeseburger cost you 14% tax. That's tyranny. I was going to spend time telling you about how just "squeezing the pigs" (meaning smokers, drinkers) would be pointless because you'd just end up with less pigs, but then after today I realized that there was more than one reason to call someone a pig (talking on a cell, eating out, drinking soda). So, sin taxes are infinitive. Let's not let them go there.
I'm exhausted. Bye.

I'll be pro-socialism IF...
Snow will be doled out equally to all parts of the country.
Hurricanes will be divided equally for everyone. (Why should Florida have all the rights?)
Every state in the union has oceanfront properties, and everyone owns one.
Earthquakes will be moderated equally among the states. (No damage that way I'd think)
Tornadoes are divvied out over all the land. (Once again, no damage)
Rain and heat and cold likewise are shared equally (No more driving to Florida in January)
Mountains are also shared. (Lancaster County would be a "have not")
Freshly caught seafood is available everywhere, not just "down the shore".
Every national monument is within reasonable driving distance of everywhere,
I want to see them, but It's a lot of driving.
Every "politician" is available (in person) for angry tirades when anyone feels it's necessary.
Every person is an "A" list movie star.
I could go on for hours. I'll stop.
If you live in Iowa, you're not getting, or going to get, seafood caught ten minutes ago.
If you live in Kentucky, you're not going to get the plains in Oklahoma.
If you live in Texas, you won't have the mountains of Colorado.
If you don't live in PA, good luck getting Yuengling Lager.
If you live in PA, good luck getting Yuengling Lager at the grocery store.
If you want any of the things you don't have, go get them, that's your freedom. It's not the government's job. If you can't afford them, work harder. If you feel entitled, tough sh t, work harder. If you still can't afford them or feel entitled, you still didn't work hard enough.
I guess I'm not, nor ever going to be, pro-socialism.

Toddlers for Congress
Is anything productive happening in Congress? Should anything productive happen there? Would toddlers appreciate a socialist state? Can toddlers comprehend socialism?
It seems that Congress (Dems and GOP included) are spending their time arguing about who's pet project receives the most funding rather than listening to the American people. Is that the way it is intended? Do any of our representatives have our best interests at heart? When a majority of the American people want no part of a "single payer" health care policy, why is Congress still crafting models of it? Can Nancy Pelosi hear, or did a botched botox destroy her aural integrity? Does Harry Reid listen, or do the voices in his head drown out millions of taxpaying citizens? I'm convinced that Mr. Obama doesn't care what the people are saying. If he truly has a degree in law with special emphasis on Constitutional Law, then he should know that the will of the people is the law of the land. But, maybe, the degree with emphasis was for a different notion. Perhaps the Constitutional knowledge would also be necessary to work around, rather than within the law, legally. (I only had to write that sentence once, you may have to read a few times) Sun Tsu, a Chinese General, said (a partial quote) "know thy enemy". If your enemy is the Constitution, a law degree with a Constitutional law emphasis, would be invaluable. If your enemy is Mr. Obama, I'm not sure what to study, he changes his mind too often.
Now to the toddlers:
Let's elect toddlers for Congress. They'll work cheap (animal crackers, diapers, juice, milk, etc.) and it will be relatively cheap day care for parents. And, best of all, when the food is handed out in equal parts, they'll fight for more and behave just like the Congresspeople we're used to, showing us just how unrealistic socialism is.

squeezing the pig (coming soon)
Ok, this isn't the post it was going to be. It's not even the second post it was going to be. It's just a short post of something I read, something that made me think.
"It's a budget that reduces taxes, lowers the deficit and creates jobs, It honors the three pillars of the Obama initiatives: energy, health care and education."
- Nancy Pelosi discussing the 3.4 Trillion dollar federal budget.
For those of you who don't understand in trillions...
$3,400,000,000,000 = Budget for greedy spread the wealth socialcrats
$34,000 = Fourth year teacher with master's degree
Hmmm... Three pillars of Obama initiatives? Two more out there? Just curious.
So thank you Nancy for tying Mr. Obama to religion, not necessarily Islam, but... aren't there five pillars of Islam?
Just a side note, isn't it funny that the beltway's newest democrat voted against the budget?
I'm so angry I don't have the opportunity to vote against him!
