Here's to our government finally taking action we've all been waiting for. I'm glad my tax dollars are hard at work. Government oversight is a good thing. More would be even better. I'm tired of corporations making money because of my stupidity, or rather "our collective" stupidity. It's about time big brother took a stance and "done showed" us what was right and what was wrong. I mean, who knew I might be purchasing a drug? Who knew that for the last hundred years people have been feeding drugs to their toddlers? Thank you big brother. Now I know. Stop eating cheerios people. STOP!!!!!!!! They may contain a drug (whole grain oats). Please stop now before you find yourself stuck in a self deprecating cycle. Whole grain oats are a gateway drug people. Next its metamucil. One day you'll find yourself in the gutter fighting pigeons for the grit on the side of the road. Please stop now. If Mr. Obama has his way, we may find ourselves buying our cereal grains on street corners in the middle of the night on hooker infested boulevards of major cities. It's also possible, those of us who have money (which will become fewer with every day of Obamanomics) will go to the GP begging for scripts for Cheerios. What do you suppose the markup will be for whole grain oats? I imagine that general mills will soon be in a position to sell the cheerio label to Pfizer. Don't we have anything better to do? Doesn't our government have anything more productive to worry about? We've got: terror, war and an economy on the verge of a collapse of "roman" proportions and they spend time worrying about steroids in baseball, sign stealing in football, and whole grain oats in cereal. Sighs. I can't take it anymore. I think I'll just barricade myself in a cave with guns and ammo and live on the bugs and other critters I can catch. I suppose my children will then be at least as antisocial as a "homeschooler", but I'm now not sure who I want them to socialize with these days anyway. Cheerio, Happy hunting.

After years of trying to put my finger on the "problem" with this wonderful country, I've finally figured it out. There is one blaring problem with our society. So enormous, so all-encompassing, so draining to our society, to our government, so impossible to live without (for now), that I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out. Everyone in this country, legal, illegal, black, white, red, yellow, living and sometimes dead has probably dealt with elevated blood pressure due to this entity. It costs taxpayers hundreds annually, directly, and perhaps thousands indirectly. It costs the government a possibly astronomical amount of dough. Every year, perhaps every six months or less, they try to raise revenue to "get out of the red". Every year, perhaps every six months it doesn't work. The truth is, it never will. Any guesses?

The USPS is this mucho grande villain. They tempt us with pretty stamps that cost what, $0.42, no wait, that was two weeks ago. Now those same stamps are worthless unless you go and buy a $0.02 stamp to make them work again. I wonder how much it costs to produce a 2 cent stamp? I can't imagine it costs nothing. Lets just imagine that a 2 cent stamp costs 1 cent to print. Then that 2 cent stamp that is only worth 1 cent to the USPS has to be sold to consumers. Someone has to be paid to sell that stamp to the consumer. That person, undoubtedly, is unionized. So, someone making $30 an hour is selling this 2 cent stamp that is only worth 1 cent to the USPS. If the average transaction takes 2 minutes to complete (HAHA) at the Post Office, that employee was just paid $.10 to sell those particular 2 cent stamps. So, just to break even on the 2 cent stamps they have to sell 10 2 cent stamps. Now, if most people are like me, they probably buy as few stamps as they have to because they know they'll be nearly worthless in six months, most people are going to only buy a few at a time. Now, I've been in line at the post office a few times in my life. Not once have I ever been in and out in 2 minutes. Every second that someone is wasting selling a 2 cent stamp puts the USPS further in debt. This is a never ending cycle. The good thing is, if everyone just bought "forever" stamps we could end this cycle in a few years. Buy them now. Don't ever buy a stamp again. What would they do then? If no one needed to buy stamps because they had "forever" stamps, how could they raise revenues?

Now, at the beginning I said that this was the "one" blaring problem with our country. The point is, that if the government has their hands in it, it's going to fail unless they "steal" our money to "bail" it out. It applies to everything the government does. If Chrysler was going to fail before, they're going to descend to the depths of hell now. If Citibank was going to fail before, well, you get the idea. Now, with all that said, who wants government controlled health care?

PS- Apparently the only place you can get a 2 cent stamp is the post office. The sane business entities realize there is no money selling a 2 cent stamp...

Ok, this isn't the post it was going to be. It's not even the second post it was going to be. It's just a short post of something I read, something that made me think.

So thank you Nancy for tying Mr. Obama to religion, not necessarily Islam, but... aren't there five pillars of Islam?

Just a side note, isn't it funny that the beltway's newest democrat voted against the budget?
I'm so angry I don't have the opportunity to vote against him!

Safe Sound or Secure?

I'm amazed at some of the things I'm reading these days. I remember growing up, reading stories, watching tv/movies about "clandestine services". I can remember thinking that though I'd never want a job like that, that it was "ok" to pull someone's fingernails out if they were withholding important information that put our lives at risk. For the life of me, I can't understand why people got\still get upset about the prospect of "torturing" a terrorist. They both start with "T", why not? Have we forgotten so soon of the torture thousands of families went through when mom or dad or brother or sister didn't come home on Sept. 11? I'll never forget that day, I'll never forget the feelings I had. And, I didn't lose anyone close. Imagine how someone whose father worked there that fateful day must have felt. Was that not "torture"? So, given that terrorists (domestic and foreign alike, yes you ELF and ALF) live to inflict terror on their subsequent "infidels", isn't it fair turnabout to inflict some "discomfort" on the players we have incarcerated to attempt to prevent further destruction, annihilation, killing, etc.? Now we have the "leader" of the free world disclosing memos from the "clandestinest" clandestine service. What purpose does this particular transparency serve? To make the good ole USA more attractive a target? To make us seem more friendly to the terror makers? To have Usama Bin Laden like us? One of these days I fully expect Obama to be photographed shaking his hand as well. If I were an impressionable young Muslim living in a nation full of poverty, with no possibility of making a better life for myself, and was courted by "freedom fighters" or whatever they present themselves as, they'd probably seem pretty "cool". Now, knowing that if they ask me to "terrorize" the USA, and that if I agreed, and if I survived, and if I got caught, they weren't going to subject me to any "unpleasantness", I'd jump at the chance for 3 hots and a cot. The only way we can use this insane disclosure to our advantage... Barack Obama, our esteemed president, could actually have just pulled a gigantic bluff on our enemies. How fantastic would that be? We say, no, we won't waterboard you, we won't blare infidel music at you, we'll just feed you whatever you want when you want, and oh, you want a nap... ok.... Then when they're behind bars at Guantanamo Bay (which should never be closed...) they have their fingernails pulled out slowly with rusty pliers that play ABBA's Dancing Queen at the decibel level of a departing US Air flight. That's where I stand on terrorists. Where do you stand? Where do your representatives stand? Keep your eyes out for a "commercial" I plan to put on youtube.



You don't suppose that Mr Obama wants a terrorist attack on our soil do you? I mean, then he could show how much better he'd handle it that Mr Bush did...

Can we?

Can we survive without the government? Can you survive without them? Is it necessary to have people watching over us that make tens of thousands of dollars a year more than their average constituent?

Yes. Yes. No and Yes.

Governments are not necessary for life. You and I can survive without them. However, the last answer is more difficult to fathom.

You and I, personally, can live, even in harmony, without a "ruling" body above us. Problems arise when those we interact with live outside of the "normal", the "humane", the "moral" if you will. Laws are important for society. Society is important for the individual. Because we live in an ever increasingly "global" world, government is a neccesary evil. Our government is important to share our views on world wide events. The question we need to ask is: "Does our government's position adequately share our view?" The answer to that question, for me at least, is an emphatic resounding "NO". When my government is led by a man who has ignored or voted against nearly every "moral", conservative issue put before him, I'm afraid we've gone astray. How has someone who is greatly different from me been elected? I'm pretty sure their are more like me out there. Or, maybe everyone is just hanging up their gloves and stepping out of the ring. Is it alright to abort a child because there is developmental problems? Remember, those people who have chosen to abort the child, also chose to create him. I suppose the problem today is the lack of faith. The lack of belief. In anything.

Insane thoughts for an insane time...

I love my children. I want them to learn. I want them to succeed. Therefore, I WILL allow them to fail.

That is a pretty simple statement, with weighty consequences. How do we learn anything? Now, I mean truly learn. My son (he's just over two) learned to say "hot" well before he understood what it meant. He learned the nuances of "hot" for the first time when he ate something "hot". He failed. He learned.

Back to the original statement. If those first four sentences are true (and I believe they are), what does that say about our government? Does our government love us? Do they even like us? Or, are they trying to "control" us? If they want us to succeed, do they not need to allow us to fail?

I grow more wary every day since the new "administration" has taken seat. I believe our government is now trying to create a dependent society to serve them. So unless we let our representatives know that we are displeased how will it change? I'd rather fail than be subservient.
